As a host, navigate to the Polling icon on your menu bar. This functionality will only be available to hosts, and the poll questions must be set up in advance of the VILT event by the CES/CSA.
Select which poll you would like to launch to the attendees from the drop-down menu and click “Launch Poll” button. As participants respond, you will notice the percentage of responses collected. This progress data can be inaccurate, and therefore you should ask if anyone needs more time instead of relying on the Zoom progress percentage to assess completion.
Once responses have been collected, select “End Poll.” Next, you will display the results with the group by clicking the button “Share Results” and lastly, click on “Stop Sharing” to end the poll activity. Once the polling activity is completed, close out of the poll or it could pop up again later.
- Orange color bar = the most frequently selected choice will appear with an orange car
- Blue color bar = all other choices selected that are not the highest response will appear with a blue bar
- The correct answer to the polling question is captured in bold text in your Leader’s Guide
NOTE: If participants are unable to see the poll the first time you launch it, ask them to wait 15 seconds before you re-luanch the poll, (this is likely due to bandwidth issue or system delay). If that proves ineffective, end the poll and start again. This has occasionally occurred and is a Zoom technology issue that is quickly resolved by relaunching the polls. This is also the case for sharing results. If participants are unable to see the results of the poll after you have shared them, stop sharing the results and try again. Ask participants to wait 15 seconds before you relaunch the polls, as individual bandwidth may require more time to see the poll or the poll results. You can preface that the use of poll has been “glitchy” due to high volume, so you will be asking them to confirm when they see the questions and the results on their screens.
