Page Layout
- Correct margins
- Top: 0.7 Bottom: .7 Left: 1 Right: .7
- Header/Footer: .5, .5)
- Letter-size paper
- Text centered vertically on page should NOT be manually aligned by hitting “Enter” — use the “Page Layout” tab
Styles
- Delete any styles that are not used — only Second Edition styles should be in the document
- No paragraph space(“Enter”) after Heading 1 and before the page’s content begins — the style is set with the appropriate spacing
- Styles should be applied to all text; watch for easy to miss styles:
- Continued
- Copyright
- Table Header
- Normal Emphasis”
Navigation panel
- All headings should be “Capitalize Each Word” (except for prepositions) before “Heading 1” style is applied
Headers/Footers
- Linked, where applicable
- On bumper pages, default pagination should be set to “Continued from Previous” before it is removed so that the following page’s pagination does not need to be manually set.
- No extra tabs in the footer
- Pagination is aligned properly with “www.richardson.com”
- Footers aligned with Richardson “R” in the header
- Richardson “R” in header aligned with Customer/Seller/Background Information

MISCELLANEOUS
- “Continued” on all Headings that require it
- No track changes in document
- Consistent file names with accurate content title
- Layers
- No locked layers
Layers
- No locked layers
spreads
- Allow spreads to shuffle so that they fall correctly on the viewing pane/when printing.
links
- Images we are linking to should be named exactly as they appear in the InDesign file so that we don’t have to manually find pictures every single time.
Pagination/footers
- Page number on every page
- Pagination is consistently “01, 02, 03 …” for numbers below 10 — NOT “1, 2, 3 …”
- Purple shading of the page numbers should be consistent (sometimes, the Background Image makes it lighter/darker).
- Copyrights are part of the Master — NOT just a text box on the page.
background images
- Background images on each page should NOT slightly overlap onto the page immediately neighboring them.
Spell Check
- All words that are set to UPPERCASE should be written properly before UPPERCASE is applied so that spell check doesn’t catch them every single time.
error
- There should be no “Errors” showing at the bottom of the screen (toward the bottom left, shown next to a red circle).
- Replace any “Missing Fonts” with a font that we do have access to.
